The Tech Coast Angels concluded another successful Fast Pitch event at UCLA, with Energy Cache and Hive Lighting taking the top awards at the event. The Fast Pitch event was the sixth annual event for the Tech Coast Angels in Los Angeles, which attracted over 170 company applicants and narrowed down to ten finalists.

Energy Cache, a Pasadena based grid-scale energy storage company, took the prize for Best Investment opportunity. Energy Cache’s extremely low-cost energy storage solution improves grid reliability, better manages the transmission network, and enables wide-spread adoption of renewable energy at the lowest possible cost to consumers. Hive Lighting, a Los Angeles based lighting company that is looking to revolutionize the sector with more efficient products, took the prize for Best Presentation and Audience Pick.

Panels with angels, local venture capitalists and CEOs of funded companies provided entrepreneurs and investors with insight into today’s funding environment. Mike Jones, the CEO of MySpace, also sat down for a fireside chat, and talked about his experiences through numerous ventures, including his current one.
