A panel of esteemed judges and eminent global personalities selected Tech Coast Angels (TCA) as the Most Active Angel Network in the World Award for 2020 at the TiE Global Awards, held during TiE’s Global Summit 2020 on December 10, 2020.
TiE Global is a not-for-profit, global organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship around the world. With a presence in 60 cities across 14 countries, TiE Global strives to inspire entrepreneurs through mentoring, networking, education, incubating and funding programs and activities. Bringing together an entrepreneurial ecosystem of startups, investors, mentors and business leaders, its virtual summit convened a total of 20,000 entrepreneurs, 200 investors, 300 global speakers and 10 world leaders participating.
Kallol Hazra, Director of Sales Strategy Planning & Enablement for TiE Asia Pacific presented the award during the virtual event stating that “It gives me great pleasure this year to present one of the most exciting awards of the evening. This is an angel group where members have invested in over 400 companies and have helped attract more than $1.7 billion in additional capital. The winner is Tech Coast Angels.”
Jeff Lapin, chairman-elect of TCA’s’ Board of Governors, and Brian Horner, president of TCA-Los Angeles, accepted the award on behalf of Tech Coast Angels’ 450-plus members.
“We want to thank TiE and the esteemed panel of judges for this prestigious award,” said Mr. Lapin. “TCA serves an important role in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, providing not just funding but advice and connections to early-stage companies.”
Other award winners at the renowned event included: Bill Gates (Lifetime Achievement); Bill Marriott (Lifetime Achievement); the late FC Kohli (Lifetime Achievement); Google/Alphabet for Startups (Best Corporate Supporting Entrepreneurship); Y Combinator (Best Accelerator); Sequoia Capital (Best Performing Global VC Fund); and Stanford University (Best University Promoting Entrepreneurship).
